★ Precision roller bearing for reliable steering movement and long service life of the front suspension.

Application

This bearing fits vehicles with Dana 25 front axle (1941-1965) and Dana 27 front axle (1966-1971). The categories in which this product appears include: MB, CJ-2A, CJ-3A, M38, M38A1 and CJ-3B.

Installation notes

When replacing, always replace all four bearings simultaneously (top and bottom on both sides). The corresponding cup (outer ring) is a separate part. King pin bearings must be correctly adjusted with shims for proper preload. Use anti-seize compound when fitting cups into knuckles.

Compatibility

Please note: this is cone only (inner ring with rollers). The corresponding cup must be ordered separately. Check whether your vehicle has a Dana 25 or Dana 27 front axle — both use the same king pin bearings.

Historical context

King pin constructions were the standard steering arrangement for military jeeps and early civilian models until the introduction of ball bearings in later models. These tapered roller bearings handled the heavy loads of off-road use and military cross-country work.
