Application

Suitable for repainting WWII military vehicles from the 1941-1944 period. Applicable to bodywork, chassis, wings and accessories. Can be thinned with standard thinners (10-15%) for spray gun application.

Installation notes

Thoroughly clean and degrease the surface. Apply a red oxide primer as base coat if necessary. Thin with standard synthetic thinners when using spray gun (approx. 10%). Can also be applied with roller or brush. Drying time: slow drying, apply multiple coats for optimal coverage. Wear protective respiratory equipment during application.

Compatibility

Please note: there was NO difference between 'early' and 'late' Olive Drab colour during WWII — all US Army vehicles 1941-1945 were painted in Lusterless Olive Drab (Specification 3-1, QM Color No. 22). Difference only in finish: lusterless/flat (1941-1944) versus semi-gloss (post-1944). This paint is the correct lusterless variant. Post-war colours such as 34087 or 33070 are comparable but not identical to the original WWII shade.

Historical context

During WWII, all US Army vehicles from 1941 onwards were painted in Lusterless Olive Drab according to Army Specification 3-1. This matt finish minimised light reflection for tactical camouflage. Variation between different paint manufacturers created slight colour differences between vehicles, which is visible in period photographs.
