★ Reproduction to original WW2 specification with the correct short-lip profile as used on Willys MB and Ford GPW. The difference from later types such as Hotchkiss M201 lies in the lip length and flexibility of the rubber.
Application
Suitable for Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1941-1945) and CJ-2A (1945-1949). Note: this is the US WW2 version with short lip. For Hotchkiss M201 there is a wider, more supple variant (HO40159) which can also be fitted to MB/GPW but provides better sealing.
Installation notes
Seal is attached with 15 screws to the bottom of the windscreen frame. The sealing lip points rearward (towards passenger). The rubber follows the curve of the windscreen hinges and has cut-out openings for screw attachment. Fit with hardware set A-2475. Before fitting, check that the cowl top is clean and dry – metal-on-metal contact without this seal causes leakage and wear.
Compatibility
US WW2 type: short lip. Differs from later post-war types (CJ-3A, CJ-3B, M38, M38A1) which have a different profile and length. The Hotchkiss M201 version has a longer, more supple lip and is often used as an upgrade for better sealing, but also fits original MB/GPW frames.
Historical context
During WW2, windscreens of military jeeps were sealed against the cowl with this rubber strip. The US type has a shorter sealing profile than the later French Hotchkiss M201 variant, which was developed after the war with improved sealing properties.
