Windscreen Glass Left Half

Laminated safety glass with Willys marking

Laminated safety glass

Dimensions

580 x 311 mm

Position

Left half windscreen (LH)

Marking

Willys safety glass engraving

Features

  • Laminated safety glass to WWII specifications
  • Fitted with correct Willys marking bottom right
  • Dimension 580 x 311 mm
  • Suitable for historically correct restoration
  • Supplied as glass only (rubber seal available separately)

★ Reproduction glass with correct Willys marking for authenticity. Rubber seal (A-2479) and frame seal (A-2250) available separately.

Application

Suitable for Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1941-1945) and Hotchkiss M201. The two-piece windscreen with fold-down halves is characteristic of these WWII jeeps. Note: Ford GPW originally received glass with 'FORD SAFETY GLASS' marking instead of Willys marking.

Installation notes

This glass is installed in the inner windscreen frame using rubber seals (2 pieces required per vehicle, article A-2479). The marking should be positioned bottom right on the outside of both panes. When correctly fitted, the marking is readable from the passenger side and mirrored from the driver's side.

Compatibility

The two-piece windscreen was used on Willys MB, Ford GPW and Hotchkiss M201. Note: the post-war CJ-2A used the same dimensions but has a different frame construction. M38 and M38A1 have a completely different windscreen frame (usually one-piece glass, wipers below the glass).

Historical context

During WWII, laminated safety glass was produced by various manufacturers, including Libbey-Owens-Ford (LOF) from Toledo, Ohio, and Triplex Safety Glass from the United Kingdom. The engraving at the bottom right of the glass contained the manufacturer, date and safety standard.
