Features

  • Steel frame bracket for leaf spring shackle mounting
  • Suitable for open U-shaped threaded shackles
  • Identical bracket for front and rear suspension
  • Fitted with threaded insert for shackle bushing
  • 4 pieces required per vehicle

★ Quality reproduction replacement bracket for correct mounting of the leaf spring suspension system to the chassis.

Application

4 brackets are required per vehicle: two for the front suspension and two for the rear suspension. The brackets are identical for all corners. Note: the shackles themselves have different thread directions (left-front and right-rear have left-hand thread), but the frame brackets all accept right-hand thread bushings.

Installation notes

This bracket mounts to the underside of the frame rail at the shackle position of the leaf springs. Can be welded or bolted. Fit all spring points loosely before tightening anything permanently. The threaded insert is already present in the bracket for the threaded bushing of the shackle.

Compatibility

Exclusively for vehicles with open-end U-shaped threaded shackles. Not compatible with silent-block shackles or later bolt-through-rubber designs. The bracket itself is identical for all four corners, but when assembling take into account the correct left/right-hand thread of the shackles themselves.

Historical context

The U-shaped shackle system with threaded bushings was standard on military jeeps and early civilian jeeps until the late 1950s, when manufacturers switched to silent-block rubber shackles.
