  • Suitable for Willys MB from 1941 to mid-production

★ Reproduction set manufactured to original Willys specifications. The 'A' head marking was standard for chassis and frame mountings, including pintle hook, bumperettes and other structural components.

Application

Specifically for mounting the pintle hook (tow hook WO-A593) on Willys MB Slat-grille models (1941-early 1942) and standard Willys MB to mid-production. From early 1943 these were gradually replaced by EC-marked bolts, although A-marked bolts remained in use throughout the war for chassis mountings.

Installation notes

Four bolts secure the pintle hook to the pre-drilled holes in the rear crossmember of the chassis. Fit with supplied nuts and lock washers (internal-external tooth lockwashers). Ensure correct torque settings to prevent cracking in the cast iron pintle hook.

Compatibility

Fits all Willys MB models with standard 4-bolt pintle hook mounting. Note: Ford GPW sometimes used different bolt markings (F-script). Later (1944-1945) EC-marked bolts became standard, but A markings remained common. Not suitable for post-war M38/M38A1 models with different bolt specifications.

Historical context

The 'A' and 'AA' bolt markings were applied by various American bolt manufacturers during WWII and indicated tensile strength grading. 'A' bolts were used for chassis and body mountings, whilst 'AA' bolts were reserved for mechanical components such as engine, gearbox and differential housing.
