Main Drive Gear T84 gearbox

Input shaft gear for Willys MB, Ford GPW and M201 with T84 transmission

Replacement gear for the main drive shaft (input shaft) of the T84 gearbox. This gear forms the connection between the clutch and the main shaft of the transmission, and is subject to wear from the constant load during gear changes. Suitable for Willys MB, Ford GPW (1941-1945) and French M201.

★ The main drive gear is a critical component of the T84 transmission and must be correctly adjusted using spacers and shims. During overhaul, the end play must always be checked according to TM 9-1803B specifications.

Mounting

  1. 1. Place 13 roller bearings in the bore of the gear, retain with light grease 2. Fit front bearing with snap ring (thickness 0.077" for correct retaining ring) 3. Install gear in transmission housing with clutch shaft through bore 4. Adjust end play with spacers to 0.006-0.008" (measured with dial indicator) 5. Check end play again after coupling with transfer case, before fitting mainshaft gear
