★ OE-style reproduction to original specifications, developed for correct fit and optimal sealing.
Application
This seal fits civilian CJ models with single-pane windscreen frame from the period 1949-1975. Please note: not suitable for military M38A1 with split windscreen frame with centre divider.
Installation notes
Fitting preferably carried out with windscreen frame fully opened and folded down onto bonnet. Lubricate the channel with graphite powder or brake fluid for easier fitting — avoid excessive lubrication. The seal has narrowed flanges at the corners for simpler installation. Use the provided loading grooves in the vertical frame sides to feed the seal into the channel, starting at bottom right and working towards the left.
Compatibility
Suitable for single-pane windscreen frames. NOT suitable for M38A1 or export CJ-5 models with split windscreen frame (which require separate seal with centre strip). NOT suitable for later CJ-5/CJ-7 models from 1976 onwards with different frame design.
Historical context
This seal was developed for the civilian post-war CJ series which built upon the successful military Jeep concept. The single-pane windscreen frame remained a characteristic feature of early CJ models until the redesign of the CJ platform in the mid-1970s.
