★ This is the early body tub version with the classic 5-gauge dash panel as used on CJ-3B models from the initial period. The dash panel is pre-drilled for five separate instruments — the recognisable layout of early Willys CJ models.

Application

Suitable for Willys CJ-3B models from the early production period (approx. 1953 to early 1957). The CJ-3B was introduced in 1953 with the 5-gauge dashboard, which was replaced mid-1957 (around VIN 57348 34452) by the cluster dashboard with large central speedometer. Check your vehicle: early CJ-3B = five separate round instruments, late CJ-3B = one large cluster instrument.

Installation notes

Note: dash panel is pre-drilled for 5-gauge version. Not suitable for late CJ-3B models with cluster dashboard (1957-1964). Some body mounting points and toeboard holes may require additional drilling for perfect fit. Test-fit all important components (fuel tank, pedal assembly, steering column) before final assembly and paintwork.

Compatibility

Early CJ-3B (approx. 1953-1956/1957) with five separate instruments: speedometer, temperature, oil, fuel and ammeter. NOT suitable for late CJ-3B (1957-1964) with cluster dashboard — these have a single large speedometer with integrated instruments and warning lights. The transition occurred mid-1957; early and late dash panels are not interchangeable without modifications.

Historical context

The Willys CJ-3B was introduced in 1953 with the familiar 5-gauge dashboard layout of its predecessors. In early 1957, the CJ-3B received the new cluster dashboard adopted from the CJ-5, with warning lights instead of separate oil and ammeter gauges.
