Two bags were required per jeep: one bag contained two tyre chains. The bags were stored in the right rear tool box. Originally manufactured to U.S. Army spec #6-280A from minimum 8 oz. Osnaburg cotton.

Historical context

During WWII, four snow chains (for all four wheels) were supplied as standard with every jeep, packed in two canvas bags. This ensured maximum traction in mud and snow.
