Application

This post was used in the installation of BC-620 (SCR-510) or BC-659 (SCR-610) FM radio sets in WWII 1/4-ton 4x4 trucks. The FT-419 and FT-420 posts together formed the mounting between the FT-250 shock mount table and the vehicle floor. The system was compatible with 6V and 12V systems via the PE-97 or PE-120 power units.

Installation notes

Secure the post between the FT-250 shock mount (upper side) and the vehicle floor (lower side). Always used in combination with the second post (FT-420) for stable mounting of the complete radio installation. Ensure correct positioning between the seats according to TM 11-605 or TM 11-615 installation instructions.

Compatibility

Specifically designed for the FT-250 shock mount table as used in SCR-510 (BC-620 transceiver, 21-27.9 MHz) and SCR-610 (BC-659 transceiver, 27-38.9 MHz) radio sets. Not compatible with power take-off conversions due to interference with battery boxes of those systems.

Historical context

The SCR-510 and SCR-610 were FM vehicular radio sets extensively used in WWII jeeps for tactical communications over a range of approximately 5 miles. The FT-250 shock mount protected the sensitive radio equipment from vibrations during off-road deployment.
