Note: motor draws approx. 12-15 amperes on start-up, use minimum 14 AWG wiring and fuse of at least 20 amperes. Test only with engine running to prevent battery discharge. Do not use continuously for longer than 1 minute to avoid overheating.
Compatibility
Suitable for all WWII military vehicles with 6 volt electrical system. Note: sirens were typically used on command vehicles, MP vehicles, ambulances and staff cars — not standard on ordinary cargo vehicles. Federal Electric changed its company name to Federal Sign & Signal during the war, both names are correct for the WWII period. Check serial number for authenticity on original parts.
Historical context
Federal Electric produced sirens for military applications during WWII, the name was later changed to Federal Sign & Signal. The Model O siren with 6 volt drive and characteristic V-grille was deployed on command vehicles, MP jeeps and ambulances for priority traffic and warning during military operations.
