CHAIN CAMSHAFT DRIVE
Camshaft Timing Chain L-134 Go Devil Engine
For early engines with chain drive
Replacement camshaft timing chain for the 134 CI L-head Go Devil engine with chain drive. This chain drives the camshaft from the crankshaft and is essential for correct valve timing. Suitable for early Willys MB and Ford GPW engines from WWII production.

Features
- Replacement timing chain for L-134 engine
- For engines with chain-driven camshaft
- Essential component for valve timing
- OE specification construction
- Suitable for restoration and overhaul
★ High-quality replacement camshaft timing chain to original specifications for the reliable Go Devil engine.
Application
Specifically for Willys MB (1941-1945) and Ford GPW (1941-1945) engines with chain-driven camshaft. Also suitable for very early CJ-2A models (1945-1946) up to engine number 44417. Note: from mid-1946 (engine number 44418 and higher), Willys switched to gear drive. Always check whether your engine has a chain or gear system before ordering.
Installation notes
Replacement requires removal of the timing cover at the front of the engine block. Ensure that the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft sprockets are correctly aligned during assembly. Crankshaft and camshaft must be in the correct position (cylinder 1 at TDC compression). Use new sprockets if the old ones show wear. Check chain tension after installation.
Compatibility
ONLY for L-134 engines with chain-driven camshaft. NOT compatible with later gear-driven engines (from mid-1946, engine number 44418+). Also not suitable for F-134 Hurricane engine or later CJ-2A, CJ-3A, CJ-3B and M38 models which have gear drive as standard. Hotchkiss M201 also has gears, not chain. Check engine block casting number: 638632 = chain engine, 641087 = gear engine.
Historical context
The early L-134 Go Devil engine used chain drive for the camshaft throughout the entire WWII production of MB and GPW jeeps. From July 1946, Willys switched to a more robust gear drive due to improved durability and lower maintenance costs.
