Camshaft Bushing

For Willys 134ci L-134 engine

Camshaft bushing (camshaft bearing) for the Willys 134ci L-head "Go Devil" engine. This bushing is installed in the front bearing of the engine block and supports the camshaft during operation.

Material

Bronze/metal

Position

Front camshaft bearing

Engine

L-134 & F-134 4-cylinder

Application

Both chain and gear drive

Features

  • Replaces worn or damaged camshaft bearing
  • Suitable for complete engine overhaul
  • Essential component for smooth camshaft rotation
  • Standard dimension (line bore engine)
  • Prevents wear to camshaft and engine block

★ High-quality replacement bushing meeting original specifications for durable engine restoration.

Application

Suitable for engines with L-134 flathead or F-134 overhead valve configuration. The L-134 engine was used in MB/GPW (1941-1945), early CJ-2A with chain drive, and later CJ-2A/CJ-3A/M38 with gear drive (from mid-1946). The F-134 engine was used in CJ-3B, M38A1 and later CJ models.

Installation notes

The bushing is pressed into the front camshaft bearing bore of the engine block. After installation, the inside diameter may need to be finished with a reamer or hone to achieve the correct tolerance. Check the camshaft journals for wear and ovality before installing the new bushing. During engine overhaul, this is critical work requiring precision.

Compatibility

Note: the L-134 "Go Devil" engine comes in two variants — early chain driven engines from 1941-1945 MB/GPW and very early CJ-2A, and late gear driven engines from mid-1946 in CJ-2A, CJ-3A, M38 and later models. The camshaft bushing itself is identical for both variants, but the camshaft differs. The L-134 is a "line bore" engine with only one camshaft bearing at the front.

Historical context

The Willys L-134 "Go Devil" engine powered Allied troops through WWII and remained in production for decades. This robust flathead engine with its simple yet effective bearing configuration withstood the harshest conditions.
