Bolt bellhousing to transmission (middle position)

7/16-14 NC x 1¼" — hexagonal

Original specification bolt for fixing bellhousing to transmission. Used in combination with shorter and longer bolts at different positions on the bellhousing face. Essential component for correct and safe assembly of the drivetrain.

Specification

7/16-14 NC x 1¼" (31.75 mm)

Type

Hexagonal, hardened steel

Quantity per vehicle

4 pieces total

Application

Bellhousing → transmission

Features

  • Thread size 7/16-14 NC (coarse thread)
  • Length 1¼" under head (31.75 mm)
  • Hexagonal head for 11/16" spanner
  • Original specification for T84/T90 transmissions
  • Hardened steel construction

★ Manufactured to original military spec WO6184 / FM-24430-S. Important: this is one of four bolts — always check all bellhousing bolts during disassembly.

Installation notes

The bellhousing is fixed to the transmission with 4 bolts. All 4 bolts are 7/16-14 NC x 1¼". Always use new bolts during restoration. Torque to correct specification in a cross pattern for even face contact. Always verify bellhousing alignment on transmission before final tightening.

Compatibility

Fits all Willys L-134 and F-134 bellhousings in combination with T84 (WWII) or T90 (civilian) transmissions. Note: these are bellhousing-to-transmission bolts — NOT the engine-to-bellhousing bolts, which are 3/8-24 NF.

Historical context

Standard bolt specification for WWII Willys MB and Ford GPW jeeps, continued unchanged in civilian CJ-2A, CJ-3A, CJ-3B and military M38 variants. These 7/16" coarse thread bolts were robust enough for heavy military service.
