DEUVEL VLIEGWIEL KRUKAS VROEG PAAR
Flywheel crankshaft dowel early pair
Set of 2 tapered dowels
Set of two tapered dowel pins for mounting the flywheel to the crankshaft. This early version with 3/8 UNF thread was used during original factory assembly where flywheel and crankshaft were precisely matched. The tapered design ensures exact centring and positioning of the flywheel.

Features
- Set of 2 tapered dowel pins
- 3/8 UNF thread
- Early original type
- Precise flywheel centring on crankshaft
- Installation requires removal of oil sump and rear main bearing cap
★ Tapered dowel pins are standard for original factory assembly and are intended for permanent coupling of flywheel and crankshaft. For replacement of flywheel or crankshaft, straight dowel pins are available which require reboring.
Installation notes
Note: The tapered dowel pins are installed from the rear (clutch side) through the crankshaft. For installation, the oil sump and rear main bearing cap must be removed. The pins are secured with nuts and lock washers on the clutch side. When replacing flywheel or crankshaft, it is recommended to convert to the later straight dowel pins (9/16 diameter) which require reboring of flywheel and crankshaft.
Compatibility
This tapered version fits engines originally assembled with tapered dowels. Many crankshafts and flywheels have been converted over time to the later straight dowel pins for easier maintenance. Check your crankshaft: early type has 4x 3/8 bolts + 2x tapered dowels (3/8 thread), late type has 4x 3/8 bolts + 2x straight dowels (9/16 diameter, 1/2 thread).
Historical context
The tapered dowel pins were originally used during factory assembly of the L-134 Go Devil engine in WWII jeeps. Flywheel and crankshaft were precisely matched at the factory by drilling the tapered dowels in situ, which guaranteed perfect centring.
