Application

Fits Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1941-1945), Hotchkiss M201, Willys CJ-2A (1945-1949), CJ-3A (1949-1953), CJ-3B (1953-1964), and M38 (1950-1952) with 4-134 engine. Also suitable for Willys Truck and Station Wagon (1946-1953) with this engine variant.

Installation notes

The nut secures the crankshaft pulley to the front of the crankshaft. The cross pin must be positioned horizontally to correctly receive the hand crank. Use of the hand crank requires a pass-through hole in the front bumper. Apply torque according to factory specifications.

Compatibility

Two different versions exist: this version with cross pin for hand crank use (387633) and a standard nut without cross pin. Both fit the same engines, but only this version enables manual starting with the hand crank. Suitable for both chain-driven (early MB/GPW) and gear-driven (late models) camshaft variants of the 4-134 engine.

Historical context

The hand crank was standard equipment on all WWII jeeps as backup for the electric starter. On MB and GPW it was stored on the inside of the rear body panel, on later civilian models in the tool box beneath the passenger seat.
