★ Authentic early-style part in NOS condition — essential for correct restoration of early production WWII jeeps up to early 1943.
Application
Early Willys MB (up to approx. serial number 208437), early Ford GPW (until mid-February 1943), and Hotchkiss M201 with early ventilation system. Also applicable to early CJ-2A models with road draft tube. Not suitable for late models with PCV system and crossover tube ventilation.
Installation notes
Note: this is the early version WITHOUT vent connection. Check that your engine has a road draft tube on the rocker cover (left side of engine) and NO PCV valve in the inlet manifold. For engines with crossover tube ventilation system (from early '43), the late version with vent connection is required. Push-on cap — not threaded attachment.
Compatibility
ONLY for early engines with road draft tube ventilation system. NOT compatible with late engines having a PCV valve and crossover tube ventilation (from approx. January-February 1943). Early slat grille jeeps and very early script grille models used this type. Late GPW/MB and all later CJ models with PCV system require an oil filler tube WITH vent connection.
Historical context
Until early 1943, WWII jeeps used a simple road draft tube ventilation system whereby crankcase ventilation was discharged to the outside via a tube on the rocker cover. The oil filler tube had no vent connection. From January-February 1943, Willys and Ford introduced the PCV system with crossover tube, requiring a modified oil filler tube with vent connection.
