Oil filter to engine bracket

For L-134 Go Devil engine

Mounting bracket for attaching the oil filter canister to the cylinder head. This bracket connects the oil filter to the passenger side of the cylinder head and is mounted using three cylinder head bolts. Reproduction to original Willys specifications.

Material

Pressed steel

Application

L-134 flathead engine

Vehicle

Willys MB, Ford GPW, Hotchkiss M201

Original part number

WOA1247 / WO-A1247

Features

  • Mounts to top passenger side of cylinder head
  • Attachment via three cylinder head bolts
  • Holds oil filter canister in correct position
  • Replaces often broken or missing original bracket
  • Suitable for military canister-type oil filters

★ Accurate reproduction of original part — essential for correct installation of the canister oil filter system on the L-134 Go Devil engine.

Application

Suitable for vehicles with 4-134 L-head "Go Devil" engine: Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1941-1945), Hotchkiss M201. Also usable on civilian variants with L-134 engine such as early CJ-2A (1946-1949), CJ-3A (1949-1953), M38 (1950-1952) and various Willys lorries and wagons from the same period.

Installation notes

The bracket mounts to the top of the cylinder head on the passenger side. Three original cylinder head bolts must be removed, the bracket is positioned and the bolts are reinstalled. The oil filter canister is then attached to the bracket with two C-brackets (clamps). Note: some reproductions may have burrs that need to be filed smooth for optimal fitment.

Compatibility

Only suitable for L-134 flathead (L-head) engines with canister-type oil filter. Not compatible with F-134 engines — these use a different bracket design (part number 80518). Important difference: early MB/GPW/M201 have chain-driven camshaft, whilst late variants have gear drive, but this bracket fits both.

Historical context

The canister-type oil filter was fitted as standard on all Willys MB and Ford GPW jeeps during WWII. This mounting bracket is a frequently missing part in restorations, as original examples are often broken due to fatigue or stress cracks.
