Application
This cylinder sleeve fits vehicles equipped with the Willys L-134 'Go Devil' flathead engine and the later F-134 'Hurricane' engine. This includes military vehicles built between 1941-1952 and civilian jeeps up to the early 1960s. Suitable for both chain-driven (early) and gear-driven (late) camshaft variants.
Installation notes
Professional installation by experienced machinist required. Engine block must be bored to correct tolerance (interference fit of ±0.002" for cast iron). Sleeve must be pressed using hydraulic press or installed with heat-shrink technique (heat block, cool sleeve). After installation, the interior must be finalised by honing to exact piston size. Check protrusion height above block deck according to factory specifications.
Compatibility
Fits all L-134 (134 ci flathead) and F-134 (134 ci F-head) engines with standard 3.125" bore. NOT compatible with already oversized bored blocks without further machining. Each engine requires 4 cylinder sleeves. Combine with matching pistons, rings and bearings for complete engine restoration.
Historical context
The L-134 'Go Devil' engine became the standard for Allied jeeps during WWII thanks to the design by Willys' chief engineer Delmar 'Barney' Roos. This robust flathead four-cylinder produced 60 bhp and earned legendary reliability in harsh conditions, both during the war and in later civilian applications.
