Piston rings size 0.050" oversize

Complete set for 4 pistons

Complete piston ring set for engine overhaul with rebored cylinders. These oversize rings compensate for cylinder wear after boring the cylinder block to +0.050 inch (1.27 mm). Essential component for professional engine restoration with optimal compression and minimal oil consumption.

Oversize dimension

050" (1.27 mm)

Engine

L-134 Go Devil and F-134 Hurricane

Set contents

Complete set for 4 pistons

Application

Engine rebuild with rebored cylinder block

Features

  • Oversize dimension 0.050" for rebored cylinders
  • Complete set for all four pistons
  • Suitable for L-head and F-head 134 ci engines
  • Compression rings and oil rings included
  • Ready for direct fitting after cylinder honing

★ High-quality piston rings for WWII military jeep engine rebuild. Only to be used with cylinder blocks bored exactly 0.050 inch oversize.

Application

Suitable for military jeeps and civilian jeeps with 134 ci (2199 cc) L-head Go Devil engine (MB/GPW/M201/early CJ-2A/M38) and F-head Hurricane engine (late CJ-2A/CJ-3A/CJ-3B/M38A1). Used during engine overhaul when cylinders are bored 0.050" oversize to compensate for wear.

Installation notes

Check ring gap in each cylinder before fitting: place the ring in the cylinder, push it square to halfway with a piston, and measure the opening with feeler gauges. Specification: 0.008-0.013 inch gap. Insufficient gap can lead to ring breakage at operating temperature. Pistons in oversize 0.050" are required when using these rings.

Compatibility

ONLY to be used in combination with cylinders bored exactly 0.050 inch oversize and pistons in the same oversize. Not to be used in standard cylinders or other oversize dimensions (.010,.020,.030,.060). Fits both chain-driven (early MB/GPW) and gear-driven (CJ/M38A1) versions of the 134 ci engine.

Historical context

The Willys L-134 'Go Devil' engine was the beating heart of the WWII jeep and was developed by engineer Barney Roos into a reliable 60 hp power source. Oversize piston rings enabled field overhaul and kept these engines operational for decades.
