Application
Suitable for Willys MB and Ford GPW produced from 1943 to 1945. Fits the standard firewall mounting brackets. Not suitable for the early 'pancake' air filters (1941-early 1943) or the early version with instruction plate (1942-1943).
Installation notes
Attach to the original firewall brackets using the four wing screws. Fill the oil bath to the indicated mark with the same engine oil as in the engine (preferably SAE 30). Clean the metal filter element at every engine oil change in kerosene or diesel.
Compatibility
NOT compatible with early MB/GPW (1941-early 1943) with pancake filter. NOT compatible with early oil-bath version (1942-1943) with instruction plate. Compatible with late MB/GPW production 1943-1945. Outlet diameter 2 1/8" (standard). Interchangeable with WOA5621E.
Historical context
The oil-bath air filter was standard on all WWII jeeps from late 1942. The late version with pressed instructions on the housing was introduced in 1943 as a production simplification – the instruction plate became redundant. The metal filter element was mandatory during the war due to paper shortages and the robustness required for military conditions.
