Application
This set is suitable for Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1941-1945), CJ-2A (1946-1949), CJ-3A (1949-1953), CJ-3B (1953-1964) and M38 (1950-1952) jeeps with the fuel tank mounted beneath the driver's seat.
Installation notes
The short straps attach to the brackets on the transmission tunnel and floor panel. The long straps run from left to right across the front of the tank. Use anti-rattle material (felt or canvas strips) between the straps and tank to prevent movement and noise. Note: Willys MB used rivet/rivet connections for the canvas strips, Ford GPW used clinch rivets.
Compatibility
Fits all early Willys and Ford military jeeps (MB/GPW) and civilian CJ models (CJ-2A, CJ-3A, CJ-3B) with the original tank placement beneath the seat. Not suitable for later models with rear-mounted tanks. M38 military jeeps use a slightly different 3-piece set - check your vehicle.
Historical context
The fuel tank of WWII jeeps was mounted beneath the driver's seat to save space, a unique solution also applied to the early civilian CJ models. This mounting system with metal straps and canvas/felt anti-rattle strips was standard from 1941 to the early 1950s.
