Manifold stud 3/8" - medium length

For mounting exhaust and inlet manifolds to engine block

Stud for mounting the manifold to the engine block of L-134 and F-134 engines. This stud has double-ended threads (3/8"-16 coarse and 3/8"-24 fine) and is screwed into the engine block to secure the manifold with a nut.

Material

Steel

Thread

3/8"-16NC / 3/8"-24NF

Application

Manifold mounting

Length

Medium

Features

  • Double thread: 3/8"-16 coarse on engine block side, 3/8"-24 fine on nut side
  • Medium length version for different manifold thicknesses
  • Heat-resistant material for exhaust system
  • Replacement part for worn or broken studs
  • Fit with thread sealant on the portion entering the engine block (seals coolant passages)

★ Essential component for a solid and leak-free manifold mounting. High temperatures and thermal cycling can crack original studs — timely replacement prevents exhaust leaks.

Application

For jeeps fitted with L-134 (Go Devil) or F-134 engines. Each manifold requires multiple studs in different lengths (short, medium, long) depending on position, as manifolds vary in thickness at different mounting points.

Installation notes

Apply thread sealant to the portion being screwed into the engine block — this seals the coolant passages at the ends of the block. Screw the stud firmly into the block, fit the manifold and secure with copper or brass nut and lock washer. Check torque after the first heat cycle, as gaskets may settle.

Compatibility

Three stud lengths are available (short, medium, long) as the manifold has different thicknesses at different locations. Check which length is required for each mounting position. Not all positions use the same length.

Historical context

During WWII, some Willys MB jeeps used studs for manifold mounting, whilst Ford GPW variants sometimes used bolts — both systems were permitted under military specifications.
