Application
Suitable for Willys MB (up to approx. serial number 143507 with round silencer, thereafter with oval silencer), Ford GPW and Hotchkiss M201 with standard passenger side exhaust. Not intended for late war deep mud exhaust systems that exit at the rear.
Installation notes
Note correct assembly sequence: first attach front pipe to exhaust manifold with new flange gasket, then secure silencer with clamps. Use anti-seize on all bolts and nuts for future maintenance. Check that insulation straps are correctly fitted to prevent vibrations. Ensure adequate clearance between exhaust components and chassis/bodywork.
Compatibility
NOT compatible with deep mud exhaust systems fitted to very late WWII jeeps (from March 1945 onwards). Those systems have a different silencer (WOA9090A) with integrated curved tailpipe to the rear. The standard side exhaust (this kit) has silencer WOA6118. If in doubt, check whether your vehicle has the original mounting points for side exhaust or rear exhaust.
Historical context
The oval silencer replaced the earlier round variant during WWII for quieter operation. The internal baffle design produces the characteristic L-134 engine sound that is desired on restored military jeeps.
