Installation notes

Note: cylinder head studs come in long and short versions — verify which length fits which position. Torque according to factory specifications (70 lb/ft standard, never exceed 140 lb/ft). Install in correct sequence from centre outwards, tighten in cross pattern.

Compatibility

This long stud fits all L-134 Go Devil engines — both early chain-driven versions (Willys MB, Ford GPW, Hotchkiss M201, early CJ-2A) and later gear-driven variants (late CJ-2A, CJ-3A, CJ-3B, M38). Verify whether you require the long or short version — not all positions use the same length.

Historical context

The L-134 Go Devil engine, designed by Barney Roos, powered virtually all WWII jeeps for the Allied forces. The cylinder head was secured with a combination of long and short studs that had to withstand the forces from the L-head valve configuration.
