Exhaust manifold stud 3/8"

For mounting exhaust pipe to manifold

Double-ended stud for mounting the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold. This component has threads on both ends and screws into the manifold, after which the exhaust pipe flange is secured with a nut. Essential for a gas-tight connection between manifold and exhaust system.

Material

Steel

Thread

3/8"-16 and 3/8"-24

Vehicle

Willys MB / Ford GPW / M201

Application

Exhaust manifold

Features

  • Original part number WO-332515
  • Dual thread: 3/8"-16 (manifold side) and 3/8"-24 (nut side)
  • Original overall length 1-3/8" (WWII) or 1-9/16" (post-war)
  • Mounts in exhaust manifold, not in engine block
  • Superseded by GM 103196 in the 1950s

★ Correct reproduction part for authentic restoration of the exhaust system on WWII jeeps and post-war M201.

Application

Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1941-1945) and Hotchkiss M201. This stud sits in the exhaust manifold flange and serves as the mounting point for the exhaust pipe. The exhaust pipe flange is secured onto this stud with a 3/8"-24 nut.

Installation notes

Screw the stud with the coarse thread (3/8"-16) into the exhaust manifold. The fine thread (3/8"-24) protrudes from the manifold and accepts the nut that secures the exhaust pipe flange. Use a new gasket between manifold and exhaust pipe. Use Seez Pruf nuts or equivalent during installation.

Compatibility

Note: this is the single stud in the exhaust manifold itself, not the studs that attach the manifold to the engine block. WWII version has OAL 1-3/8", post-war GM 103196 has OAL 1-9/16". Both are functionally interchangeable. Not to be confused with the manifold mounting studs (WO-300143, 632159, 349712).

Historical context

Original Willys-Overland part number WO-332515, later superseded by GM 103196. This small but critical component formed the connection between the cast iron exhaust manifold and the steel exhaust pipe on millions of WWII jeeps.
