★ Correct reproduction of the rare early-type oil pressure gauge as originally fitted to the first Ford GPW jeeps from early 1942.

Application

Exclusively suitable for Very Early Production Ford GPW jeeps built from the start of production (February 1942) until late March/early April 1942. Later built GPW and all Willys MB models used a different gauge with standard bezel.

Installation notes

Connects via oil line to the oil gallery on the left side of the engine block. Check that the line is air-free to prevent needle vibration. Original gauges sometimes had a built-in orifice for damping.

Compatibility

PLEASE NOTE: This gauge is ONLY correct for VEP Ford GPW (serial numbers approx. 1-12,000/15,000, built until approx. April 1942). Later Ford GPW and all Willys MB used gauges with standard bezel. Not interchangeable without visible difference.

Historical context

The 'paint can lid' bezel version was used by Ford during the very first production period of the GPW, before switching to the standard bezel that would be used for the remainder of the war. These early gauges are rare and highly sought after by restorers of very early production vehicles.
