★ Original NOS switch in unused condition, as supplied to the army during WWII. Superior quality for authentic restorations.

Application

Used on early-production WWII jeeps with push-pull switch (production until June 1944). The push-pull switch was replaced around June 1944 by the rotary-type switch in new production. Fits the standard dashboard opening between the blackout driving light switch and the choke control knob.

Installation notes

Mounts in the dashboard with circuit breaker at the rear. Ensure correct connection of the differentiated terminals according to TM 9-803 wiring. Terminal B for ammeter, BHT for blackout lights. Switch has locking mechanism which must be pressed in to unlock service drive and BO drive positions.

Compatibility

Specific to vehicles with early-type push-pull light switch. NOT compatible with late-production vehicles which received the rotary-type switch from June 1944 onwards. Terminals and wiring differ between push-pull and rotary type — verify your existing switch before ordering.

Historical context

The push-pull light switch was standard on WWII jeeps until mid-1944, when it was replaced by a rotary-type switch. The locking mechanism was a safety feature to prevent the service lights from being accidentally switched on during blackout operations.
