Application
Suitable for vehicles with Dana 18 transfer case as listed in the product categories: CJ-2A (1946-1949), CJ-3A (1949-1953), CJ-3B (1953-1964), M38 (1950-1952) and M38A1 (1952-1966). The Dana 18 transfer case was used in combination with L-134 and F-134 engines.
Installation notes
The lever mounts on the transfer case via a pivot pin that connects both shift levers (Hi/Low and 4WD/2WD). The pivot pin is greasable via a grease fitting. Before installation, check that the thread for the knob (5/16"-24) is intact.
Compatibility
Only for Dana 18 transfer case with 'dual stick' configuration. Not suitable for later models with single-stick shift. Early CJ-2A models (up to serial number 24196) had a Dana 18 with 2.43:1 low range, later models 2.46:1 low range — this lever fits both variants.
Historical context
The Dana 18 transfer case with dual stick shift was standard on military and civilian Willys jeeps from 1941 until the mid-1960s. The system gave the driver direct control over front-wheel drive and Hi/Low range via two separate levers.
