  • Suitable for front and rear output shaft
  • Prevents oil leakage from transfer case

  • Replaces original part numbers 923896 and 8123077

★ High-quality replacement seal built to original specifications. Suitable for restoration and maintenance of authentic WWII and post-war jeeps.

Application

This seal is suitable for vehicles with Dana 18 transfer case: CJ-2A (1946-1949), CJ-3A (1949-1953), CJ-3B (1953-1966), M38 (1950-1952). Fitted to both the front and rear output of the transfer case. Two seals are required per vehicle.

Installation notes

Fit the seal with the lip facing inward (towards the oil). Check the output shaft flange for grooves or damage — if deep wear grooves are present, a speedy sleeve is recommended. Often a felt pre-seal is also fitted to the rear of the flange to keep out dust and dirt. Lightly lubricate the lip with oil before fitting.

Compatibility

Please note: this seal only fits the Dana 18 transfer case. Not suitable for Dana 20, Dana 300 or other transfer cases without verification. When reusing old flanges: inspect carefully for wear — a grooved flange will leak again even with a new seal.

Historical context

The Dana 18 transfer case was produced from the final WWII jeeps and remained standard on most civilian Willys jeeps until the early 1950s. This seal was a crucial component for maintaining lubrication and reliability in rugged terrain conditions.
