- Suitable for both front and rear axle differential housings
- Applicable to various Dana axle types
- Seals the differential housing against oil leakage
- Indispensable for correct axle maintenance
★ Correct replacement for original filler plug on WWII military jeeps and early civilian models. Important: fill oil to the bottom of the filler plug thread — no further.
Installation notes
Use PTFE tape or sealant on the thread. Do not overtighten — the plug only needs to be sufficiently tight to prevent leakage. Top up differential oil to level (to the bottom of filler plug opening). Recommended lubricant: SAE 90 or SAE 140 differential oil, depending on season and type of universal joint in the front axle.
Compatibility
Front axles: Dana 25 and Dana 27. Rear axles: Dana 23, Dana 27, Dana 41, Dana 44 and Dana 53. Note: this is the filler plug in the differential cover, not the drain plug at the bottom of the housing.
Historical context
Dana axles were used extensively in military jeeps during WWII and remained standard in civilian models until the early 1970s. Regular checking of the oil level via this filler plug was crucial maintenance.
