DEFLECTOR OIL YOKE AXLE JEEP
WO636566
Pinion Yoke Oil Deflector
For Dana 25 and Dana 27 axles
Oil deflector (oil slinger) for the pinion shaft of Dana 25 front axles and Dana 27 rear axle. This component sits between the pinion yoke and the oil seal and helps distribute oil around the pinion bearings and prevents oil from leaking through the propeller shaft coupling.

Features
- Essential component for correct pinion bearing lubrication
- Fits between pinion yoke and oil seal
- Helps retain oil around rear pinion bearing
- Prevents leakage via pinion shaft splines
- Replacement part to original Willys/Dana specification
★ Professional replacement part for repair and restoration of Dana 25 and Dana 27 differentials. Always replace during differential overhaul for optimal performance.
Application
Front and rear axles with Dana 25 or Dana 27 differential: Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1941-1945), CJ-2A (1945-1949), CJ-3A (1948-1953), CJ-3B (1953-1964), M38 (1950-1952), M38A1 (1952-1963), early CJ-5/CJ-6 with Dana 25 front axle or Dana 27 front axle (until 1971). Fits both Dana 25 front axles and Dana 27 front and rear axles with 10-spline pinion yoke.
Installation notes
Fitted between the pinion yoke and the outer pinion bearing oil seal. When overhauling the differential: first correctly adjust inner and outer pinion bearings with shims, then fit oil slinger, followed by the oil seal and pinion yoke. Tighten pinion nut to specification (approx. 100 ft/lb for Dana 25/27). The oil slinger is a flat or slightly formed disc — not to be confused with the depth shim.
Compatibility
Only for Dana 25 and Dana 27 axles with 10-spline pinion. NOT suitable for later Dana 30, Dana 44 or other models using different slingers/deflectors. Early Dana 44 rear axles (e.g. CJ-2A/3A/3B/M38/M38A1 rear axle) have a different pinion yoke assembly — always check axle type before ordering. Dana 23-2 (MB/GPW rear axle) may have a different specification.
Historical context
The oil slinger has been standard in Dana axles since WWII to optimise pinion bearing lubrication, particularly important in high-pinion axles where oil has difficulty reaching the upper bearings. Willys used different thicknesses of oil slingers (typically 0.050"-0.055") to adjust pinion depth — later aftermarket kits therefore supply a thinner slinger (0.030") with separate shims for flexibility.
