★ Reproduction of the original clamp bracket with which the hand crank was secured to the inner rear panel of the WWII jeep during transport.

Application

Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1941-1945) and Hotchkiss M201. The one-piece 31½" crank handle was stored vertically during transport against the inside of the rear panel, clamped with this bracket and a wing nut on a welded stud.

Installation notes

The clamp is placed over a welded threaded stud (5/16"-18) on the rear panel. The curved side grips around the crank handle, which is then secured with a wing nut. Two small L-shaped brackets on the floor plate hold the lower end of the crank handle in place.

Compatibility

Fits MB and GPW with one-piece crank handle. Note: early CJ-2A used a two-piece crank handle stored under the seat — this system is not suitable for that application.

Historical context

The engine crank handle was standard equipment on all WWII jeeps as a backup for the electric starting system. When used, the crank handle was inserted through an opening in the front bumper to manually turn the crankshaft.
