Application
Suitable for restoration of Ford-built engines from the 1940s, including Ford GPW engine blocks, cylinder heads, transmissions and bellhousings. Also usable for Ford N-series tractor engines from the same period.
Installation notes
Apply to clean, grease-free and dry metal. For optimum results, apply 2-3 thin coats with 10-15 minutes between coats. Allow to cure fully (24-48 hours) before starting the engine. No primer required on clean metal.
Compatibility
Please note: Ford engines were painted grey, Willys MB engines in Olive Drab green. Early Ford GPW engines (1942) had a darker 'cold slate gray', later production a lighter, warmer grey shade. This paint approximates the mid-tone suitable for most Ford GPW restorations.
Historical context
Ford Motor Company painted its military 4-cylinder engines in a distinctive grey colour, the same shade as used on the popular Ford 9N and 2N tractors. This colour clearly distinguished Ford GPW engines from the Olive Drab green Willys MB engines.
