★ Authentic reproduction of the WWII universal rifle holder. Mounts onto the inner windscreen frame using pre-welded support brackets.
Application
Suitable for Willys MB, Ford GPW and Hotchkiss M201 jeeps with late-war windscreen frame (from September 1943 onwards) featuring pre-welded rifle holder brackets. For early-war jeeps, a retrofit kit with separate mounting supports is required.
Installation notes
The rifle holder is mounted horizontally on special brackets that are welded or bolted to the inside of the lower windscreen frame. When fitting an M48 machine gun bracket mount, the rifle holder must be positioned vertically on the left side of the vehicle. Canvas padding should be applied to the internal tabs to prevent damage to the weapon.
Compatibility
Fits all late-war Willys MB and Ford GPW (from Sept. 1943 onwards) with factory rifle holder brackets. Also compatible with Hotchkiss M201. Early-war jeeps (before Sept. 1943) require separate field-retrofit brackets which are not included in this product. This is the rifle holder itself — mounting brackets for the windscreen frame are sold separately.
Historical context
The universal rifle holder was developed from October 1942 and entered production from September 1943 as standard equipment on late-war jeeps. The design was universal so it could be mounted on multiple vehicle types (jeeps, lorries, halftracks), both horizontally and vertically.
