Compatibility

The rifle holder brackets were introduced from mid-1942 onwards and were not standard fitment on early jeeps from 1941-early 1942. The universal rifle holder was used on various military vehicles, not only on jeeps. When fitting the machine gun mount M48, the rifle holder had to be relocated to the vertical position on the left-hand side of the vehicle.

Historical context

The universal rifle holder was developed to carry various weapons: M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, BAR, Thompson, Grease Gun and Springfield/Enfield rifles. The mounting hardware was specified in the Ordnance Supply Catalog dated 15 February 1945.
