  • Total length 2¾ inch (70 mm)
  • Original Willys Ordnance part number A-2168

★ Original design to Willys Ordnance specification A-2168, used on late MB/GPW jeeps and post-war military jeeps.

Application

Used on rear panel (6 pieces for tarp tie-down straps, or 5 pieces if jerrycan bracket fitted), driver's side panel (3 pieces for shovel and axe straps), passenger seat (4 pieces for canvas tarp storage) and topbows (2 pieces). Total of 15 pieces per vehicle in late production (late 1942 to 1945).

Installation notes

Fastened through body panel with flat head screw No. 10-24 NC × ½ inch (or ⅝ inch for thicker panel/filler), washer and nut. Early vehicles (1941–late 1942) used square-shoulder variant A-317, later replaced by this round-shoulder variant A-2168 without change of part number.

Compatibility

Fits late Willys MB (late 1942–1945), Ford GPW (late 1942–1944), Hotchkiss M201, and post-war military jeeps (M38, M38A1). For early MB/GPW (1941–late 1942) the square-shoulder variant A-317 was used. Both types are functionally interchangeable.

Historical context

The footman loop A-2168 already appeared in the MA parts list (June 1941) and remained unchanged in use until the end of WWII production. Originally manufactured by Eberhard Mfg. (part number 6402), later also by other suppliers. The round shoulder variant gradually replaced the early square-shoulder version from late 1942 onwards.
