Installation notes
Sold individually - 2 pieces required per vehicle. The top bow pivot bracket is fitted to the body with a 3/8" x 5/8" UNC bolt (not included), flat washer and split pin. The pin in the top bow must point forward (towards dashboard) so that the notches in the top bow align correctly.
Compatibility
Please note: there are two versions of top bow pivot brackets for WWII jeeps. This 5/16" UNF version fits early to mid-production vehicles. Late production vehicles use a 3/8" UNF top bow pivot bracket with larger hole. Check the thread size of your thumb screw before ordering - early = 5/16", late = 3/8".
Historical context
The top bow pivot bracket (Ordnance number WO-A2901) was an essential component of the canvas top system on WWII jeeps. The design changed during production from 5/16" to 3/8" thread for improved strength.
