Application
Attachment of jerrycan to rear panel of WWII military vehicles. Early type as applied from late 1942 / early 1943. Mounted in combination with reinforcement plate on rear panel and upper strap bracket.
Installation notes
Installation requires 8 bolts (5/16 inch), nuts and lock washers (available separately as mounting kit). The bracket mounts to the reinforced rear panel, combined with an upper strap bracket for complete jerrycan security. Verify that the rear panel is fitted with the correct reinforcement plate before mounting.
Compatibility
This is the early type jerrycan bracket. Note: early vehicles (script models until mid-1942) originally left the factory without jerrycan mounting. The bracket was added from August '42 as field modification or factory-fitted from early 1943. Does not fit tailgate variants due to the rolled edge.
Historical context
The jerrycan bracket was introduced as field modification from mid-1942 and became factory standard from early 1943. The 5-gallon American jerrycan provided additional fuel capacity beyond the 15-gallon main tank and was standard issue to frontline vehicles.
