Installation notes

The guard is fixed with two bolts to the wing edge. The mounting points are located at the front of the left wing. The wiring of the blackout lamp runs via the hat-channel on the underside of the wing to the main wiring loom. For correct placement: the angle of the bracket protrudes approximately 5mm over the wing edge.

Compatibility

Note: there are two versions of blackout lamp guards — the early 'tombstone' (U-shape, retrofit) and the later 'horseshoe' (horseshoe shape, factory fitting from mid-1942). This horseshoe version is correct for jeeps from 1942-1943 onwards. On Ford production recognisable by multiple spot welds around the mounting points.

Historical context

Blackout drive lights became standard fitment on military jeeps from early 1942 for tactical night operations. The lamp provided limited downward light to enable convoy driving without enemy detection.
