🗺️ 2. Lubrication Points Overview (± 23 Points)

TM 9-803 includes a full lubrication chart (Lubrication Guide) with the following locations:

🚗 Chassis:

  • 2× Front wheel hubs

  • 2× Kingpins (upper & lower)

  • 4× Spring pivot pins (shackle bolts)

  • 2× Shock absorber eyes

  • 2× Driveshaft universal joints

  • 1× Handbrake lever pivot

  • 1× Clutch release lever pivot

⚙️ Mechanical:

  • Transmission (fill plug access)

  • Transfer case

  • Front and rear differentials

  • Engine oil + oil filter

  • Steering gear (requires EP grease or heavy oil)


📅 3. Lubrication Intervals (as per TM 9-803)

Transmission / axle oil change Every 6,000 miles
Grease hubs, U-joints Every 1,000 miles or after water crossing
Chassis lubrication Every 500 miles
Replace oil filter Every 2,000 miles

⚠️ 4. Important Lubrication Notes

  • Do not use lithium grease where graphite or EP grease is required

  • Always check for clogged grease fittings

  • Never overfill gear housings – fill only up to the plug hole

  • After deep water driving: re-lubricate hubs, kingpins, and U-joints immediately

  • GAA – General Automotive & Artillery Grease

  • OE – Engine Oil

  • GO – Gear Oil
