Fender Anti-Squeak Kit

For front fenders and body side panels

Anti-squeak kit fitted between the front fenders and body side panels. This impregnated canvas material prevents squeaking and metal-on-metal rubbing whilst driving, as originally applied on WWII jeeps and civilian CJ models.

Material

Impregnated canvas (welting)

Origin

Made in USA

Application

Between fender and body

Fitting

Secured under fender bolts

Features

  • Prevents fender squeaking and rattling
  • Original type impregnated canvas material
  • Pre-formed pieces, ready to fit
  • Suitable for both left and right fender
  • Durable and hard-wearing

★ Reproduction of the original anti-squeak material as applied from 1941. Essential for a correct restoration and driving comfort without irritating squeaks.

Application

Suitable for Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1941-1945), Hotchkiss M201, Willys CJ-2A (1946-1949), CJ-3A (1949-1953), CJ-3B (1953-1968), M38 (1950-1952) and M38A1 (1952-1971). Fitted between the front fenders and body side panels where the fender bolts pass through.

Installation notes

The welting is placed under the fender bolts when fitting the front fenders. The pre-formed pieces are positioned between the fender and the body/body side panels, after which the mounting bolts pass through the holes in the material. Ensure all contact points between metal parts are covered to achieve optimal sound dampening.

Compatibility

This kit fits all models listed in the application. Please note: this is specific to the front fenders. For bonnet welting (grille to bonnet), a separate kit with split-rivets is required. Not compatible with later CJ-5/CJ-7 models which use different mounting methods.

Historical context

Anti-squeak welting was standard on all WWII Willys MB and Ford GPW jeeps and continued into the civilian CJ models and post-war military M38/M38A1. The impregnated canvas material was an effective and economical solution against squeaking caused by metal-on-metal contact during off-road use.
