Material

Steel

Finish

OD (Olive Drab)

Mounting

Left front wing

Application

Blackout drive lamp 4.5"

Features

  • Reproduction bracket for blackout drive lamp
  • For mounting on left front wing
  • Suitable for 4.5" blackout lamp unit
  • Pre-drilled mounting holes
  • Compatible with standard blackout lamp bucket

★ Correct reproduction of the original bracket, conforming to military specifications for blackout lighting.

Application

Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1941-1945) and Hotchkiss M201. Note: different versions existed during production — early vehicles sometimes had a 'tombstone' (U-shaped) bracket, later models a 'horseshoe' bracket.

Installation notes

Mounts on the left front wing with fixing bolts. The blackout lamp bucket and lamp unit are supplied separately. Check that the mounting holes are present in the wing — not all early jeeps received these from the factory.

Compatibility

Fits standard MB/GPW/M201 wings. Not compatible with other blackout marker lights (rear). Specifically for the large 4.5" blackout drive lamp on the left front wing. Early 'tombstone' and later 'horseshoe' brackets are not interchangeable.

Historical context

The fender-mounted blackout drive lamp was introduced to help the driver see the road during nighttime convoy movements, whilst the smaller blackout marker lights served for distance monitoring between vehicles. This system was crucial for tactical mobility without enemy detection.
