Installation notes

The stencil was originally applied to the metal holder (which was pre-painted in a darker green than OD 33070). A strip of tape protected the stencil during fitting of the holder to the bonnet and final painting. After drying, the tape was removed, leaving the text visible against the darker background.

Historical context

The lubrication chart holder (A-12716) with accompanying stencil was fitted from November 1944 to April 1945 on Willys MB (serial numbers MB-387532 to MB-438052). Ford GPW received the holders from July 1944 onwards. The holder contained the laminated lubrication chart No. 501 (9-3/4" x 15") with metal edge.
