Application

For mounting the blackout driving lamp to the left front wing of Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1941-1945), Hotchkiss M201, and civilian models CJ-2A, CJ-3A, CJ-3B, M38 and M38A1. Note: early WWII jeeps (before mid-1942) did not have this lamp as standard - many vehicles received it later via retrofit kit.

Installation notes

The bracket attaches the blackout lamp holder to the left front wing. Wiring runs through the fender hat-channel to the engine compartment. Check correct positioning before drilling holes - use original or pre-drilled hole locations where possible. A rubber grommet is recommended for the wiring passing through the wing.

Compatibility

Fits all MB/GPW models with blackout lamp mounting on wing, both original and retrofit. Also compatible with later military models (M38, M38A1, M201) and civilian CJ-series that had blackout lighting. Not all early jeeps had this lamp from the factory - check whether your vehicle has the original mounting holes.

Historical context

The fender-mounted blackout driving lamp was introduced during WWII as part of the tactical lighting system, enabling convoys to drive at night without enemy detection. Early production jeeps often lacked this lamp; retrofit kits were issued later.
