Features
- Pressed steel construction
- Mounted to inside of radiator grille
- Directs air to radiator for optimal cooling
- Prevents chafing between bonnet and grille
- Suitable finish for painting in OD green
★ Reproduction of the original pressed air deflector design as applied to the improved 9-slat radiator grille that Ford introduced and Willys adopted.
Installation notes
Bolted to the upper section of the radiator grille. A felt or welt strip should be fitted between deflector and bonnet to prevent wear. Before painting: degrease, sand and finish in Olive Drab (OD) green or vehicle colour.
Compatibility
Fits pressed steel 9-slat radiator grilles as used on later Willys MB and Ford GPW vehicles from 1942 onwards. Does NOT fit early slat grille assemblies (welded wire construction) — these had separate air deflectors.
Historical context
When Ford started GPW production in 1942, they introduced the pressed 9-slat radiator grille with integrated air deflectors as a replacement for the labour-intensive welded wire grille. Willys adopted this improved design for MB production.
