★ High-quality reproduction to WWII specifications. Direct replacement for original master brake cylinder on military jeeps from the 1941-1945 period.
Application
Fits Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1941-1945) and Hotchkiss M201. Note: for early CJ-2A jeeps only up to serial number 215649. Later CJ-2A models used a different cylinder with different mounting.
Installation notes
Check before fitting that the front mounting hole in the frame is tapped (threaded). The centre distance between mounting holes must be 3-1/8 inch (79 mm). Use new copper sealing washers at the outlet fitting. Bleed the system completely after fitting — begin at the master cylinder, then from longest to shortest brake line (right rear → left front).
Compatibility
Different versions of master brake cylinders exist for jeeps: early style with one front threaded mounting hole (this cylinder) versus late style with both holes unthreaded. Check your original cylinder before ordering. Not suitable for later CJ models (CJ-3A, CJ-5, M38, M38A1) — these use a different model with different mounting.
Historical context
The single-cylinder master brake cylinder with round reservoir was standard on all WWII military jeeps from 1941 to 1945. The system operated with a single fluid reservoir and controlled both front and rear brakes via a Y-splitter — simple yet effective for military purposes.
