★ Note: reproduction GPW grommets are thicker than original. Fit the grommets first, then adjust the free play of brake and clutch afterwards. If free play problems occur, the felt thickness can be halved.

Ford GPW (1941-1945). Installation: slide the felt gaskets over the pedal rods at the rear of the floor plate (firewall side). The grommets are pressed against the floor by the spring action of the pedals when not depressed.

Fit the grommets BEFORE adjusting the free play of the brake and clutch pedals. Reproduction grommets are often thicker than original, requiring adjustment of the free play. If problems occur: the felt can be reduced in thickness by prolonged compression or simply cutting it in half. Check after installation that the brake light switch functions correctly.
Compatibility
Specific to Ford GPW. The Willys MB used a different system with smaller felt washers, spring and metal ring. This GPW-type felt does NOT fit the Willys MB. Note: the GPW grommets may rub against the floor plate reinforcement rib — this is normal with reproduction parts.
