Front Axle Brake Line Left

Pre-formed steel tube line

Pre-formed steel brake line for the left wheel cylinder at the front axle. This tube line connects the wheel cylinder to the T-fitting on the axle and is an essential component of the hydraulic brake system.

Material

Steel with double flared ends

Connection

3/16" with standard inverted flare

Vehicle

CJ-2A, CJ-3A, M38, CJ-3B

Application

Front axle left, wheel cylinder to T-fitting

Features

  • Pre-formed tube line for direct fitment
  • Supplied with correctly formed ends
  • Replaces rusted or damaged original line
  • 9" brake system with 1" wheel cylinders
  • Sold individually (left or right)

★ Essential component for a safe and reliable brake system. When replacing, always check both sides for rust and leakage.

Application

Fits CJ-2A (1945-1949), CJ-3A (1949-1953), M38 (1950-1952) and CJ-3B (1953-1964) with standard 9" drum brakes at the front axle. These vehicles all used the Dana 25 front axle with similar brake configuration.

Installation notes

This line connects to the left wheel cylinder and runs to the T-fitting (tee fitting) mounted on the axle housing. Before fitting, check that all connections are clean and undamaged. Use new copper washers where necessary. Bleed completely after installation.

Compatibility

NOT compatible with later systems with angled cylinder connections (60° angle) as used from approximately 1960 on some CJ-3B and CJ-5 models. Those models use Z-tubes instead of S-shaped tubes. Check the configuration of your wheel cylinders before ordering.

Historical context

The classic 9" drum brakes with 1" wheel cylinders at the front axle were standard on all early civilian and military jeeps until the early 1960s. The characteristic S-shaped brake tube at the front axle was necessary to accommodate axle movement.
